Ch.11: A special girl
As soon as Mainda returned to the residence in London, she searched for her master. Her mind was filled with questions that kept whirling inside her head for the past hours, keeping her restless despite her exhaustion. She managed a greeting to Emil who she met as soon as she walked in the house, before heading to the master’s office. She knocked the door and walked in, finding Saika in front of one of the bookcases, placing some hefty, leather-bound tomes back in their spot.
‘’Welcome back Mainda.’’, he spoke indifferently, giving her a single glance before focusing upfront to finish the task the female had interrupted him from. She felt glad that he was in house, since she had no idea how to calm her anxiety, should she have to wait for him to return from one of his trips.
‘’Master. I have a few questions.’’, she spoke hastily, failing to hide her emotions. The black-haired male chuckled and after placing the last book in its place, turned his body towards her. He gave her a smirk and his eyes traveled all over her body before focusing on her face. Mainda felt a shiver travel down her spine and she found herself completely frozen, her eyes stuck on her master’s that have turned into crimson instantaneously. The air around him felt menacing, but somewhat relaxing, as if she belonged in his presence, as if she had nothing to fear. He approached her and brought his large hands near her face. With another chuckle from him, he cupped her face, touching her cheeks. Her breath was caught in her lungs as memories flashed violently through her brain and she found herself sitting in a backseat, watching over what had happened during her mission.
When Saika withdrew his hands, his expression showed nothing but satisfaction.
‘’I knew I was right about you.’’, he muttered under his breath. Mainda blinked in confusion, the only thing she could guess was that her master had read her thoughts and memories. The air around him still hadn’t cleared up and the crimson eyes brought butterflies in her stomach. She wondered yet again, if all the followers felt the same for their master. Fear, love, respect, reverence, lust, desire, all mixed into one.
‘’You are my special one Mainda. My touch has affected you the most it seems.’’, he commented and the female felt nothing but shock, her eyes widened. ‘’And like a blade I shall hone you, turn you into my perfect weapon. I hadn’t had one in over a millennia.’’, he added and the woman, still in trance, struggled to speak the only question in her mind.
‘’Why me?’’, she stammered in honesty, no disdain for the fact, but simply wonder. The male shrugged his shoulders and run his hand through his hair, sighing. That single gesture of his, expressed such confidence, content and was even sensual.
‘’You will train with me from now on.’’

The weeks that followed were nothing but a never ending training session with master Saika. Mainda didn’t have any missions and rarely saw the residents of the house. From the point she woke up till night time, she followed the master’s strict schedule. He promised her that after two months she will receive missions again, not as a follower, but as an apostle. She had no idea what that meant initially, but as she kept sword fighting against her own master, getting beat to a pulp every single time, and reading through every file he presented her with, expanding her knowledge of the world and the masters, things began making sense to her.
Apostles were randomly created amongst the followers and their creation was related to the compatibility the follower and master have. Apostles were something like soulmates to the masters, able to accept the largest output of abilities and powers they provide. She had to train aggressively at first, in order to accept a larger amount of abilities he wanted to pour into her. Mainda never thought that she would be able to do all these things and develop her strength, agility, speed and knowledge in such a short period of time. It seemed that whatever the master wanted of her, she managed it, as if his powers dragged her forward.
The master also taught her the technique the two males used, the inside out method. They multiplied their blood cells to such an extend that enabled them to cover their bodies with them and create an armor. It was a very rare and demanding ability and master Ikrov had four people able to use it. Master Saika had two and now with Mainda joining in, three.
Mainda became progressively weary of the residents in the house, since they did their best to treat each other like they had before, but the fact remained that the black-haired woman, the newcomer, ended up becoming the special one. Mainda wanted nothing to change between her and the rest of them, not feeling any better than anyone else. The only relationship that had truly changed though, was the one she had with master Saika. The master was more engaging and strict with her, but still gifting her with his charming smirks and piercing gazes of his crimson eyes. Mainda felt stronger for her master now, but dared not to speak of it. She knew it was because of the connection they shared and treasured the mixture of feelings growing inside of her.
Nine weeks after her mission in Hiiumaa, master Saika gave her the freedom to do missions for him again, having finished with her training and lessons. She was to practice on her own from now on and occasionally with him. She also had the freedom to access any of his files. That spring morning that he announced the conclusion of the lessons, he was sitting in front of his office with his usual indifferent gaze.
‘’Your first mission will be to visit a master I cooperate with a lot, since we are sharing Europe.’’, master Saika spoke and the thought that overwhelmed her mind was the two armored males she had met in that forest. Two of the four strongest one’s Ikrov had. She nodded positively.
‘’You will take another follower from London with you this time. I suggest Issah, since he is also able to use the inside out method.’’, he added and Mainda pursed her lips, recalling the strange behavior of the male. He hadn’t approached her during these two months and their interactions were completely typical.
‘’I saw that.’’, Saika commented and chuckled. The female looked up at him and smiled bitterly. ‘’I know he is a bit of a weird character, but he is a great follower. Plus you have nothing to fear.’’, he added and smirked devilishly. ‘’You will be able to top them all.’’, his voice lowered and he stood up, his eyes had turned crimson, bringing Mainda the mixture of feelings she yearned to have.
‘’Come.’’, he spoke softly and the woman moved without even thinking it. The male stood up and she stopped walking inches in front of him. Her body shivered in excitement as he cupped her cheeks, staring into her blue eyes that had widened in wonder.
‘’You are ready now my apostle. Take it all.’’ His words echoed in her head and Mainda winced in pain, an immeasurable amount of pressure crushed her entire body, making her veins pulsate, while power overwhelmed her.
Then it stopped. She felt no difference whatsoever, but knew that all the training she had gone through was in order to host her master’s higher powers. Her feelings became clearer, the reverence for Saika peaked. Her mind didn’t let her doubt, it had forgotten all about who she used to be before her death.
‘’Master. It’s an honor.’’
