Eyes that bled grief part 2

The following is an original short story and I will upload parts of it as I write it. Enjoy!

Ch2: The beast that wasn’t.

‘’Are you sure she has no other relatives?’’, the doctor asked, hovering over the black haired girl, plugged in every single machine possible.
‘’The only people interested of her well-being are her colleagues and old friends of hers.’’, the male nurse replied, checking on the tube connected to her wrist. The doctor sighed.
‘’Well at least her friends will visit today. I wonder who will take care of her.’’
Mainda opened her eyes wide, the shock of her surroundings brought her on edge, her heart pounding hard on her chest. She wanted to stand up, but for some reason her body didn’t move. She immediately felt tears pool up at the corner of her eyes.
‘’Please try to relax. I am right here with you. I will explain everything.’’, she heard a male voice, soothing and somehow familiar. When her eyes saw him she merely shivered.
‘’S..a..i..ka.’’, she struggled to use her mouth to utter the male singer’s name. He smiled at her bitterly.
‘’I am so sorry Mainda.’’, he replied and sighed.
‘’You have to know the truth. You were hit by a car.’’, he added and the woman felt her heart jump. The previous night flashed back in her head and she wondered how bad her condition was. She couldn’t even move her pinky.
‘’Miss Reiter.’’, another voice was heard as another person entered her line of vision. A man in a doctor’s robe, approached her with a stern expression. His chestnut eyes focused on her.
‘’We will do our best for you, but you might not be able to walk again.’’, he spoke and the words crashed in her mind like a tsunami. Tears rolled down her eyes and she struggled to speak.
‘’Please do not strain yourself. Our nurses will take care of you.’’, he immediately added and then turned to Saika. The woman felt her heart racing, the realization of her condition brought her in panic mode and she was unable to control her feelings.
‘’Nurse Saika. Put her to sleep.’’, the doctor uttered and the woman wanted to shout and object, but she was unable to do anything. She slowly lost her senses again.
About a month had gone by, and while her condition had bettered, there was no sign of her being able to walk again or use her arms properly. Mainda felt devastated and no matter how hard her friends tried to comfort her, nothing could soothe her. Saika was taking care of her every time he had a shift and the woman really appreciated his help. Yet she felt disgusted for him seeing her like that. Her life felt in shambles, there was no future ahead of her. She thought about ending her life too many times, not bothering to share it with anyone. Yet she needed to express these feelings, as they were eating her up.
‘’You are thinking too hard again…’’, Saika noted, looking at her sideways as he prepared her medicine. His sharp features didn’t match his soft expressions.
‘’I wonder if it’s even worth living anymore.’’, she uttered without thinking, regretting it immediately when she saw the male widen his eyes in shock. Maida glanced out the window, the clear blue January sky inspired a fake serenity.
‘’Would you like a second chance?’’, the male suddenly said and the black-haired woman stared in his black eyes, no sign of emotion. He stood over her bed, like a lifeless statue, his eyes never leaving hers.
‘’Well… I would, but there are no second chances, right?’’, she muttered and her heart lost a beat when she witnessed something surreal. The male’s eyes changed from pitch black to crimson red. Her mouth dried up and her palms sweated as fear coursed through her.
‘’I beg to differ lovely Mainda…’’, he dragged his words and smirked, looking more like a demon than a human being. ‘’I can give you your life back and more.’’ He added and the woman felt like she was having a deal with the devil.
‘’Are you… serious?’’, she managed. ‘’How is this… Am I hallucinating?’’ The man chuckled.
‘’If you accept I can give you your body back and more power added to that. I ask only one thing in return…’’, he spoke and Mainda waited for him to finish his words. ‘’I want your blind faith to me.’’
The woman swallowed hard, still thinking that she was living a dream or that she had been hallucinating. What would giving her faith to him mean? How could she do that? Yet, her life felt pointless. A low chuckle was heard from the male’s side and the woman felt another shiver numb her head.
‘’You have already realized it, haven’t you?’’, he commented. ‘’It’s true. You won’t be able to cook again. You won’t even be able to walk again. Always needing to rely on others from now on.’’ Every single word he spoke fell like a brick falling inside her stomach, her heartbeat raising with every second passing.
‘’Come now lovely Mainda. Your future awaits. Say that you accept me and you will have you life back and so much more…’’, he lowered near her, his hot breath hitting her face, smelling of metal, resembling blood. His devilish smirk and red eyes was all the woman could focus on and her mind had taken the decision. She had no choice. She still wanted to cook, still wanted to meet a good man and have a family of her own.
‘’I accept.’’, she uttered, every letter coming out of her mouth felt heavier than the entire world. Saika laughed loudly, in pure satisfaction.
‘’Perfect.’’, he whispered and then his hand approached her neck. Mainda was unable to move and simply stared at him wide eyed, as his fingers curled around her throat, closing in threateningly. His grip was too strong and aggressive, despite his soft expression and mischievous, pleasant smile. She felt drawn by his red eyes, two pieces inferno.
‘’To make you mine, you must meet death first.’’, he spoke and Mainda chocked in his grip, shaking aggressively, her senses leaving her. The woman's eyes turned to the back of her head, as death took her slowly. ‘’Welcome to the family.’’
